三星電子在通信技術專利方面，無論是在數量上還是在質量上均壓倒蘋果。三星電子是世界上擁有最多移動通信技術專利的企業。根據市場研究機構Chetan Sharma，1993年到2011年三星電子在美國和歐洲申請了11500多個移動通信技術相關專利，在世界主要企業中排在第一位。而蘋果的移動通信專利申請量不到1000件，排在第31位，不及三星電子的十分之一。 

Apple’s long term carrier parter AT&T has announced that they have processed 200,000 pre orders for the iPhone 4S, making the new Apple smartphone the most successfully launched iPhone yet. These 200,000 orders only come during the first 12 hours of sales, which started around midnight. Notably, these are just AT&T’s numbers and don’t include Apple’s own online pre-orders or the orders through Apple’s other U.S. carrier partners, Verizon Wireless and Sprint.

台積電與旗下轉投資創意電子近期派出60人團隊前往矽谷，與蘋果(Apple)內部晶片開發單位商討合作案，蘋果提出2項重要關鍵條件，新款CPU IP必須去除任何可能侵權疑慮，以及28奈米製程良率需達到經濟效益水準，台積電對於這2大條件表達相當程度保證動作。半導體業者指出，由於台積電及創意電子均與安謀(ARM)簽定授權，加上台積電28奈米製程良率第4季可望巨幅拉升，後續台積電拿下A6 CPU代工訂單機會大增。不過，台積電對於客戶相關消息不願作任何評論。

看來日本的 Apple Store 在發表會前夕忍不住先放出的資訊也已經成真了，這台 iPhone 4 的後續機 iPhone 4S 已經正式發佈。雖然外觀沒什麼變化，但其具備的最新 A5 晶片與雙核 GPU 號稱將圖形效能提高了七倍之多。螢幕同樣採用 3.5吋 Retina 顯示器，而造成許多使用者麻煩的天線問題，也可經由依握持方式自動切換的功能來確保通話品質，還同時支援 GSM 和 CDMA 通信網路規格，讓使用者可以在全球漫遊無阻，同時享受 14.4 Mbps 的 HSPA 或 EV-DO Rev. A 的高速上網服務。

全球跨裝置運算技術業者Splashtop宣佈推出應用程式CamCam，該款針對 iPhone 和 iPad 的應用程式，可將即時影音資料從 PC 網路攝影機串流到 iPhone 和 iPad，使用者因而能夠遠端觀看關心的人事物。

MacRumors points us to correspondence between Apple and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) following Apple entering an undisclosed license agreement with Nokia in June stemming from patent litigation.

路透報導稱，原本富士康准備在巴西投資120億美元，生產iPad等產品；由於稅收減免談判進展不順，加上巴西的結構性問題，比如缺少熟練技工、缺少政府資源等，富士康的投資項目可能擱淺，處在“不確定”之中。今年4月，巴西總統迪爾瑪·羅賽夫（Dilma Rousseff）到訪中國，提到了富士康在巴西生產蘋果iPad的議案。巴西認為將此舉視為加強與亞洲經濟聯繫的標誌，同時也可以證明巴西在向高附加值製造產業鏈前進。

 投資分析公司UBS今天發布了一份智能手機用戶忠誠度的報導，詢問受調查者是否還會購買與目前自己設備相同廠商的智能手機。根據這份全球範圍的調查，89%的iPhone用戶稱自己的下一款手機還是iPhone。

國際研究暨顧問機構Gartner發布最新展望報告，2011年全球平板媒體（Media Tablet）終端銷售總計可達6,360萬台，較2010年的1,760萬台，激增2.6倍。平板媒體銷售將維持強勁成長，到2015年可望達3億2,630萬台。

等著買蘋果下一款平板電腦iPad新機的消費者，口袋可能要多準備點錢了，因為接下來的iPad新機可能不會維持在原本iPad/iPad 2的499美金起跳的價格。根據集邦科技(TrendForce)旗下行動智庫表示從各廠得到的消息，下一代iPad使用的面板、背光模組與電池組件來預估，若是大量生產來降低成本的效應不足以負擔規格提昇所添增的成本，新一代的iPad的零售價格可能會提昇一成以上。

If Google and Apple were to merge, their respective Android and iOS mobile software would seize well over three-quarters of the world’s platform share in smartphones, per latest Millennial Media’s “Mobile Mix” mobile device usage share report. Separately, Android and iOS held 54 percent and 28 percent share in August. Millennial now includes data from smartphones, tablets, e-readers and gaming devices so direct comparison to their smartphone-focused July study is meaningless.
