Fabless communications chip company Quantenna Communications Inc. has announced a partnership with conumer electronics giant Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. to develop 4x4 MIMO Wi-Fi technology products for multiple markets.

As well as using the technology in various consumer products, Samsung's expertise there is expected to help Quantenna (Fremont, Calif.) develop next generation chips and chip sets.

"We believe that Samsung will impact the industry in a number of important ways," said Sam Heidari, chief executive officer of Quantenna, in a statement. "Combining our expertise in high performance 4x4 MIMO Wi-Fi with Samsung's products enhances Quantenna's leadership in whole-home wireless video distribution." 

Quantenna, founded in 2006, is a member of the Silicon 60, EE Times' list of emerging technology startups.
