香港商富士通半導體有限公司台灣分公司宣佈推出業界首款商用多模收發器晶片—MB86L12A。該晶片是繼MB86L10A之後的另一款新產品，可讓系統免除外部低雜訊放大器(LNA)以及在3G和LTE產品接收端的TX path 與RX path之間的表面聲波濾波器(SAW)。這款收發器採用高階程式設計模組，可控管使用開放式標準數位介面(3G和4G DigRF/MIPI)的射頻，並能與業界各類基頻晶片產品搭配使用，是多模、多頻LTE、通用型行動通訊系統 (UMTS)和EDGE手機的理想之選。富士通將從2011年12月開始提供樣品。

China-based fabless chip supplier Spreadtrum Communications Inc. said Monday (Oct. 3) it completed a majority acquisition of WCDMA solutions provider MobilePeak Holdings Ltd. for about $5 million. 

Isis, a joint venture between U.S. mobile phone service providers AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless, has announced that HTC, LG, Motorola Mobility, RIM, Samsung Mobile and Sony Ericsson will introduce NFC-enabled mobile devices that implement Isis NFC and technology standards for electronic payment.

Isis is working with DeviceFidelity Inc. (Richardson, Texas) to standardize the addition of NFC functionality to cell phones to turn them into electronic wallets, which DeviceFidelity does using a micro-SD card technology. 

However, no dates were given for when the phones would be in the market, or when Isis NFC payments would become commonly available, or whether Isis NFC would be deployed outside the United States. Pilot deployments are expected in 2012.

NFC-enabled phones are expected to allow consumers to make payments, store and present loyalty cards and redeem offers at participating merchants with the tap of their phones. However, the industry has been slow to implement the technology as different groups – particularly credit card companies and cell phone service providers – have maneuvered for control of systems in deployment and lobbied for support and critical mass.

"Isis technology standards provide the direction and certainty needed for the development and deployment of NFC devices and the mobile commerce ecosystem," said Scott Mulloy, chief technology officer at Isis, in a statement. 

"NFC is the future of mobile payments and will ensure that transactions are done securely from mobile devices," said Christy Wyatt, corporate vice president of software and services product management at Motorola Mobility, in a statement issued by Isis. "Through working with Isis as well as the broader Android ecosystem, we look forward to providing consumers with NFC-enabled handsets that make mobile commerce a reality."

諾基亞西門子通信發布了三款全新4G 設備 。這幾款設備能夠爲消費者帶來出色的寬頻接入能力，最高可實現102MB/秒和51.0 MB/秒的下行與上行網路傳輸量，從而能夠在 TD-LTE(分時長期演進)網路上支援數據密集型服務。這些設備可全面滿足各種寬頻接入需求，包含服務不足地區的基本連接需求和密集區域的高速移動寬頻需求等。三款產品現均已上市。
其中USB-lte7210為隨插即用型 USB資料卡，可為移動中的筆記型電腦和相容平板電腦提供移動寬頻接入能力。CPEi-lte 7212是專為室內使用而構建的無線路由器，通過 WiFi 或乙太網為 TD-LTE 服務提供了固定無線連接。CPEo-lte 7210則是專用於室外安裝的無線路由器，可抵禦各種天氣變化，同樣也提供了寬頻接入能力。這些設備能夠在全球多個國家和地區支援符合TD-LTE 標準的2.3 GHz 和 2.6 GHz 頻帶之上的 4G 服務。

IEEE新成立 P802.3bj 工作小組，計劃在2014年3月發表100Gbps乙太網路背板與銅纜標準；該小組將為正在裝配40/100G乙太網路連接埠的下一代資料中心與電信設備開闢新道路。

全球嵌入式及行動應用軟體廠商美商溫瑞爾（Wind River），發表旗下最新版網路加速平台「Wind River Network Acceleration Platform」，這套多核心加速解決方案可為網路基礎設備提供更高速的網路傳輸效能，因為此一平台可針對較高階的通訊協定提供額外的封包加速功能，使整體網路傳輸效能大幅提升；可支援的較高階通訊協定包括了UDP以及TCP這類第四層傳輸協定（Layer 4 Transport Protocol）。此外，這套新版平台也拓展了對市場主流硬體核心處理器的支援能力，包括飛思卡爾（Freescale）QorIQ以及Intel Xeon次世代多核心處理器都納入支援之列。由於已針對多核心處理器的矽晶片予以最佳化，「Wind River Network Acceleration Platform」可以根據處理器內含的核心數量，有彈性地擴充網路傳輸效能。

NEC日前宣佈，將由NEC Eastern Europe為匈牙利國家災難管理局建置移動式無線寬頻通訊平台「BBRide」（BroadBand on Ride），協助該局進行災難現場的即時監控。透過「BBRide」的大容量高速傳輸，可整合行動電話與無線網路等異質網路媒介，進一步實現穩定而快速的網路傳輸環境。

市場研究機構 Infonetics Research 的最新報告指出，行動通訊基礎設施市場持續成長強勁，而在 2011年第二季，電信業者採購 LTE 基礎架構設備的支出首度超越了WiMAX 設備支出。
該機構指出，在2011年第二季，全球2G、3G與4G通訊基礎架構設備支出與去年同期相較，成長了25.2%，較上一季成長4.5%。估計在2011至2015年間，全球行動通訊基礎架構設備支出累計將達到近2,500億美元。

In the decade that WiFi has blanketed home networks across the United States, several technologies aimed at using existing wiring in the home have met with limited success. These have included MoCA (Multimedia over Coax, which has been adopted by some service providers for implementing multi-room DVRs) and HomePNA (originally for phone lines but later expanded to coax cable as well). At least three dueling standards have also sought to bring high-speed connectivity over electrical wiring. HomePlug, the most successful of these, has had several iterations. The latest – HomePlug AV – is rated at a theoretical throughput of 200 Mbits/sec. However, power line technologies have been held back by high prices and occasional interoperability problems.
